You Are Hear
A song stands in the street around you, one instrument here, another there. Put on headphones and walk through it.
Steampunk Design · Minneapolis · since 2008
I’m Richard Mueller. From 2008 this studio was 3232 Design: a workbench of brass dials and parchment where I built sites, games and identities for writers, artists and small companies. It is still a workbench. These days it holds worlds you walk through, tools I use every day, sites for friends, and a journal of what is on the bench.
The instrument is the 2008 one, rebuilt from its original layers. Its story.

Six of the sixteen things I made that are still running.
A song stands in the street around you, one instrument here, another there. Put on headphones and walk through it.
A circular story told on tiny planets of Minneapolis; tilt to travel. Worldmaker turns your own 360 photo into a world with story walls.
A novelist's desk in a tab: binder, corkboard, margin notes, history, EPUB. It still opens a book written in 2013.
A social network made of files you keep: you are a small file at an address you control, and limnus reads your friends' files into one conversation.
Scrub the years and T. P. Healy's Minneapolis appears house by house, over the city's own maps from 1874 to 1906 and the old streetcar lines.
Daily notes: physics, programming, ideas, tools, music and life.
A note a day about what I worked on: physics, programming, ideas, tools, music and life, each one tied to the earlier notes it shares an idea with. Entries go up once I have read them.
Where the brass came from.
In 2008 the 3232 Design site was a workbench seen from above: parchment, blueprints, a zebra, and a brass instrument for a menu. Its outer ring chose the category and its inner ring focused the picture, like a microscope slide. A year earlier I had made a set of eyeball postcards; the eye moved onto the site and has stayed with the studio ever since.
The old site still runs, exactly as it was, at 3232.steampunkdesign.com.
